What we learned visiting Kibera, one of Africa's largest slums
Encountering Kibera
Last April, I had the opportunity to visit Kibera in Kenya — one of the largest slums in Africa. While the area faces many hardships, I was deeply moved by the smiles of the people I met and the determination with which they live each day. Witnessing their drive to live positively even with limited resources, and the strength of a community that supports one another, I felt a strong wish to do something to help.
Magoso School and Moyo Children Center — places that build the future
Magoso School and Moyo Children Center, which I visited in Kibera, are dedicated to giving children access to education and to building places where the future feels full of hope. I was profoundly moved by the passion of the teachers and staff who, despite limited resources, support these children and work to illuminate the future of the community. Through this encounter, we have begun donating part of the profits from GOEN JAPAN's business to the activities of Magoso School and Moyo Children Center.
Hoping for Kibera's future
We hope that this support will become one small step toward a future where the children of Kibera can receive an education and hold on to their dreams. As members of society, in a way only a company that cherishes human connection like GOEN JAPAN can, we want to keep sending our encouragement to everyone in Kibera, far across the world.
